Data shows that Xiangxi is expected to receive 11,911,500 tourists in the first quarter of 2023, with a tourism income of 11.352 billion yuan.
This spring, the cultural tourism industry in Xiangxi ushered in new development opportunities and regained its vitality. Scenic areas such as Fenghuang Ancient Town, Aizhai, Furong Town and Biancheng Chadong are extremely popular with tourists.
Before the Spring Festival, Xiangxi carried out 48 cultural tourism activities and launched two characteristic tourist routes of “the Miao Spring Festival” and “the Tujia Spring Festival” to warm up the tourism market.
A series of promotion activities were implemented. Ma Bi, deputy prefect of Xiangxi, dressed up as General Qiancheng and opened the city gate to welcome the tourists, which was reported by CCTV’s “News 1+1”. Jishou City invited Yuan Shuxiong and Tang Yi to introduce Qianzhou Ancient Town through livestreaming, with over 100 million likes. Luxi and Baojing also released creative short videos themed on martial arts and mythology.
Among the tourist destinations promoted by the directors of the culture and tourism bureaus through livestreaming, Xiangxi has the highest bookings for hotels and admission tickets of scenic areas. Since late February, the bookings for hotels in the whole prefecture have increased more than 31 times compared to the same period in 2019, and the bookings for tickets of scenic areas have grown about 9 times year on year.
A variety of cultural tourism activities were organized. Jishou City, Guzhang County and Baojing County have successively held tourism development conferences and supporting activities like the Xiangxi Golden Tea Culture Tourism Festival to stimulate the tourism market. The most popular scenic area and the best star introducer were selected.
The preparatory work on a meeting to exchange experience on the promotion of rural revitalization through cultural tourism, the 2023 Hunan (Summer) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival and the second Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference are being actively advanced to display the good image of Xiangxi.
